The Mad Titan - Designer Toy

Art Director / Design Manager

Thanos doesn't need to be subtle, and that's the idea I kept coming back to while developing concepts with artist Joe DellaGatta on The Mad Titan. We leaned hard into an exaggerated, gorilla-like build for him: wide shoulders, a hunched stance, and a jaw I probably asked Joe to push bigger more times than either of us can count. It's a stylized take that has nothing to do with realism and everything to do with making Thanos feel like a genuine physical threat the moment you look at him.

Once the sculpt was locked, the fun part was figuring out how many different ways we could let him exist on a shelf. Beyond the class color way, we ended up with Gold, Galaxy Purple, Gloss White, and Gloss Black editions, each one changing the whole mood of the piece without touching the design itself. The Infinity Gems lined across his gauntlet are still my favorite detail of the whole figure, small enough that you'd miss them at a glance but exactly the kind of thing that rewards someone who picks him up and actually looks.
