Wolverine - Designer Toy

This one holds a special place for me, since it's where my partnership with Jesse Hernandez (aka Urban Aztec) really kicked off. Jesse reimagined Wolverine as "Wolvie Muerto," a Day of the Dead style luchador, mashing up Adamantium claws with Aztec and Mayan influences in a way that felt completely fresh for the character. As Art Director and Design Manager, I worked with Jesse and our development PM to make sure that vision came through in the sculpt and paint while getting everything approved through Marvel, and the response was big enough that it turned into a long-running collaboration. We went on to do Iron Man, Batman, Darth Vader, and more together over the following years, but Wolverine was the one that started it all.

It also picked up Designer Toy of the Year Fan Choice in 2020, which still feels pretty great to look back on.
